Women’s Wonder Wheel
Women endure their share of pain. Fighting for a place in history to prove themselves capable of more than the roles imposed by society. The gender is expected to work twice as hard to access the same opportunities men have in many areas of life. We’re constantly looking for ways to show our value. Although, acknowledgments have been brought to light, we haven’t quite acquired enough recognition to claim gender equality. Barriers have been broken but the work continues externally, as well as, internally.
The challenges we face aren’t always obvious to the naked eye. Support isn’t as widespread as we’d like it to be. We’re discouraged in subtle ways not chase the dream, promotion or ask for the raise we deserve. Accepting what we’re given is more in line with how we should behave. Right? No. This creates an environment that can deter many from having the confidence to ask for what they need.
Women refrain from speaking up instead of expressing their experiences with abuse, mistreatment or neglect. We suppress the desires for a more enriched life, in exchange for being labeled a “well behaved woman.” Why rock the boat? Making others happy, sometimes becomes our purpose replacing the passion we may have burning within.
In the face of hardship, struggle and exhaustion you prevail. Women have a magical ability to carry more than their weight while making it look effortless. Strong, yet tired. You wear a smile throughout the pain. The wonder of being a everything to everyone to the point of losing yourself to love. Love for the children, partner and family.
A woman’s wonder, around and around in circles of her life. Her tentacles touch the lives of loved ones leaving an imprint. At times, efforts go unnoticed. They may not be seen by those closest to her. Taking for granted all she does to keep them going at full speed. Do you ever stop the machine? Unlikely. However, it is possible to slow down the work.
We have the superpower to create a home, lift each other up, love unconditionally. The responsibility that comes with being a woman is immense, also beautiful. In the name of love, marriage, motherhood or career we fight back to gain a platform. Carving a space on a stage that can open doors to a life we didn’t think could materialize. Today, it is all possible.
Think it. Believe it. Go out there and make it happen!
