We are all unique, and our characteristics and experiences shape how we move in our lives. Despite our differences, we persevere, are strong and compassionate, and have an endless ability to nurture. Along with these qualities, we have a profound connection to emotions. The compilation of these attributes creates the essence of a beautiful being called woman.
This month we celebrate the contributions made by women to culture, society, and history. Women’s History Month is a public acknowledgment of the trailblazers who have paved the way for us. The beginning of the women’s revolution began in 1848 with the Seneca Falls convention. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott initiated a movement to focus on our right to vote. Later, the mission expanded to issues of freedom and equality. Over time, our purpose has become bigger and the struggle doesn’t stop. While the perception of a powerful woman continues to evolve at the core, we are all human. We want to be seen, heard, loved, but it all starts with one person. You must put yourself first and learn to decipher what makes you happy. Once you know the answer to that question, you can reboot and go outside yourself to help others on a similar journey.
I have learned so much about myself since surviving the aftermath of two divorces, raising a college graduate and diving into entrepreneurship. Taking care of myself is not selfish but necessary. This month, I am drawing out the essence of my womanhood by showing some love to my body, heart, and soul.
Everything changes. We learn and grow, as we navigate the challenges presented to us. I have evolved substantially over the years but my essence remains the same. I am a woman who desires to add new experiences to my life that lead to creating the best possible version of myself.
