Turning a Negative Into a Positive
Starting over following a painful divorce was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. Picking myself up by the bootstraps after being let go in a round of layoffs at work was devastating. It took every ounce of strength from me to keep pushing forward. There are many women providing for families on their own and can appreciate the panic felt in the face of financial hardship. I’m grateful that time is behind me. I’m even more thankful, someone offered tough love during those challenging moments. She said “Turn a Negative Into a Positive.”
Over a year ago, I began writing for the public. There is a certain vulnerability that comes with allowing others to read your work. You take a chance and open yourself up to criticism and rejection which can be hard on the ego. I’ve learned to accept and embrace it all for the sake of a purpose. I want my stories to be read by as many people as possible. Offering courage, hope and provoking thoughts about what is possible.
My article was accepted at Thrive Global for publication today. Previously submitting to the digital magazine, I knew it wouldn’t be easy but I wasn’t ready to give up on something I believed was great. I was drained of ideas, mental and physical energy the day I wrote the article. A combination of a long day’s work and responsibilities on my plate left me questioning whether I had it in me to produce a quality blog. The lag in time waiting for editors to accept a submission is exhausting at times. On that night, I made a choice not to drown in the negative feelings. Instead, I recycled the forces working against me to create a positive. “The Top 3 Ways to Conquer The Dip” was born to inspire. Maybe, the next time you encounter a day when nothing is going your way you’ll look for the upside of things – turning a negative into a positive!
I hope you’re enjoying my stories. Thank you for reading!
