Our Journey Together Begins Today : 3 Ways to Get Through Memorial Day Weekend Solo!
This weekend comes around each year and every time we stress plans. Whether it’s The Hamptons, beach, BBQ, weekend getaway or alone in the city. We stress about the plans we may or may not have for the long weekend. Fear not – I’m here to tell you it’s ok if you don’t have plans. In fact, this gives you the opportunity to do whatever you want!! Not what everyone else thinks you should do.
When I first got divorced, one of the toughest things to do was make plans. Years after, I realized that it’s totally OK to sit with myself. Enjoy the silence. It was my time to shine.
If you have no plans this holiday. I have suggestions to help you get most of the long weekend.
1. Take a trip to one of the few Barnes and Noble stores in your area. If that is not possible, grab your laptop and go to nearest park. Find one that is filled with great scenery! Lots of trees and views that take your breath away. Pop open laptop and shop for a summer book that will knock your socks off! Guilty pleasures are welcome. I just finished Shonda Rhimes, “A Year of Yes” and Gabrielle Union, “We’re Going to Need More Wine.”
2. Treat Yourself to something you enjoy and makes you smile. It can be anything big or small. Call an old friend who makes you laugh. Watch a movie that warms your heart. Make an appointment for pampering – spa, manicure, pedicure, hair?
3. Make a date with yourself. Take yourself somewhere YOU want to go. Whether it’s a museum or restaurant you have been wanting to try.
Don’t overthink it! Life is what we make it. Start your journey today to a better place.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day!!
